About the author
This discussion is not about me but about the topic. Nonetheless, you might be interested to understand my background and experience.
My name is Geoff Purdom. I work mainly around the Biotech hub in Boston, USA. I have 18 years experience of a broad range of bioprocess technologies and validation challenges, particularly in relation to downstream processing. I have a PhD in chemical engineering from Imperial College, London, England.
I also worked for a number of years on the other side of the fence pursuing customer applications and product development within Millipore, a major supplier of consumables and equipment. At Millipore, I was R&D director of a group of 27, mainly engineers, managing hardware & software development. During that time, we introduced a number of innovative process equipment solutions that are widely used in the biopharm industry. I currently work in a consulting group IMPACT-tc, where we tackle a wide range of clients’ confidential processing challenges, some of which involve disposable solutions.
My comments contained in this discussion are my personal professional opinion. My objective, in hosting this site, is to provide independent perspective and encourage dialog about disposables as an emerging processing niche. This discussion is maintained out of personal interest.
It is my believe that Disposables are a promising practical solution to a number of bioprocess development and manufacturing issues.
